the new Roland Guitar Synthesizer combines guitar/bass/amp modeling and guitar-synthesizer.

The presets are modeling and/or synth presets. It is possible to use the sound of the guitar in addition to the sound of the GR 55, but it is impossible- due to the concept of the new GR 55 -  to play the internal synthsounds by external devices! I play many of my presets in combination with the Boss GT 10: guitar- output to GT 10 to amp and GR output to mixer/desk/keyboardamp.
