Guitar Synthesizer

A synthesizer is a device that electronically creates sounds.  The  most common synthesizers use a keyboard  to trigger sounds, but  it is possible to trigger sounds with a guitar. Therefor you need a Hex  pickup (hexaphonic pickup), which is a divided, pickup which seperates the sounds of the guitar strings to six different outputs.

Hexaphonic pickups are offered by Roland and Axon

There are two types of guitar synth: a guitar to midi converter only converts the string pitch to midi messages. Others units combine a guitar to midi converter with a sound module.

For information about different guitar synth models have a look at Roland and Axon.

I use a Roland GR 33. It works fine as long as you use the interal sounds. To trigger extern midi devices I prefer the Axon AX 100 MK II. Roland and Axon offer both guitar to midi converters without soundmodules.. Meanwhile I would prefer to use a simple converter because the built in sounds as well of the GR 33 as the Axon AX 100 MK II are not my favorites. On the other hand it is possible to use the sound modules for live performance without other equipment.

Here You find some useful patches for the GR 33, the GR 55 and the Axon AX 100 MK II
