My music story
As for everybody else for me music became more important at the age of 14 or 15. Somebody at school gave me a record of Buddy Guy,
recorded at the European Blues Festival in 1964- and I loved it and listened to it repeatedly. I started to learn some chords and single note lines, but for some reasons about
30 years had passed before I started to study guitar seriously at the age of 44.
So I can tell you no success-story as you often find: “Started to play guitar at five and performed my first gig at seven,
became professional musician at 12 and guitar-hero at 14”. Now I am 56, play guitar, have still a lot of things to learn. I’m inquisitive. Fortunately, I had a
great guitar teacher. He encouraged me to compose my own songs and to try out new things, I am interested in: new sounds, strange chord progressions, old-fashioned jazz guitar
licks of the 60th´s and ethnic licks from different parts of the world.
My viewpoint of music is, that there is good music in different genres. Music, that is important for me, often is not the one with
the hi-tec level of technical skills. It has to have soul. I find this kind of music, which touches my soul in jazz, blues, classic and ethnic music. I try to combine aspects
of different styles in my songwriting. In the last years, I visited Turkey, Vietnam, Thailand and other countries of the near and middle East and Asia and so I tried to
include my perception of the ethnic music of these regions in my music. I had always been envious on the keyboarders, which are able to program and use synthesizers. Therefore, I bought a guitar-synthesizer and use it to realize my sound ideas. My recording “Angels and Monsters” has been made possible by Thanh Hai Nguyen, who added with her voice a new sound to my music. The “electric dreams” have been finished in summer
2007 I just have finished my new album: water-lilies, fresh filtered guitars & and cruising triplets
